It’s kinda like Christmas in July for fantasy golf nerds like myself.  The 2010 PGA Tour schedule was released today!  Some of the names have changed (bye bye Buick) but for the most part the schedule looks similar to previous years in the FedEx Cup era.

I was afraid that the 2010 schedule would be a few events shy of the standard 37 due to the $^%&*! economy and lost sponsors.  But I should have known better to doubt Tim Finchem and the PGA Tour brass.  No dates have been lost.  Game on!

Before I get to the actual lineup of events, lets review some key golf dates in the new year so everyone can mark their calendars accordingly.

Top 5 Dates in 2010

April 11th - Masters Sunday.  Last year was one of the better Masters Sundays since 2004, will Tiger be on the prowl for the first leg of a Grand Slam?  Will Phil be on his tail.  We can only hope.

February 25th - The party gets started in Phoenix.  I just may be (fingers crossed) in attendance.  If that should come to fruition you can count on drunken Rotoff Golf twitter updates from the 16th hole, stuttering (stwittering?) and all.

January 7th - The PGA Tour season kicks off in style, without anyone ranked in the World Top 10 no doubt.  Nothing like watching golf live at night.

February 18th - The first day of Match Play when the Top 64 golfer in the world are all playing on the same course.  It’s like a major with round one drama.

June 20th - The final round of the U.S. Open………at Pebble Beach.  It doesn’t get much better.  Interesting to note that the Tiger Slam was played on all the same major courses on the 2010 schedule except for Whistling Straights.
