12 Days of Rotoff: Tiger Woods

We’re counting down the days until the start of the 2011 PGA Tour season with a look at the Top 12 Fantasy Golfers over the last three years.

Outlook

 

Amazingly even after a terrible 2010 campaign Tiger still sits atop the SLS rankings, but if 2011 is similar to last year it will be a fast drop.  Valued at only 10.5 Units in 2010, Tiger lost almost 15 Units to his overall value.  This might be the year to wait on Tiger unless you can get him for below market value.  35 Units is worth the risk, 55 Units could cripple your season.  But even after a winless year, no one has more Wins or Bonus over the last three seasons.  Your guess is as good as mine.

12 Days of Rotoff: Phil Mickelson

We’re counting down the days until the start of the 2011 PGA Tour season with a look at the Top 12 Fantasy Golfers over the last three years.

Outlook

 

One thing you can always count on with Phil, he plays all the Majors and plays them well (Majors grade of A+).  He’s also always available in the Playoffs on a consistent basis.  Phil is in the Top 5 for AF, Wins and Bonus and ranks 1st in R2 RSA.  Outside of Segment 6, is dependable to be available each Segment.  Look for Phil to have another good year as he’s shown nothing to indicate he’s slowing down.  Just be prepared to spend some Units as he won’t be going cheap.

12 Days of Rotoff: Steve Stricker

We’re counting down the days until the start of the 2011 PGA Tour season with a look at the Top 12 Fantasy Golfers over the last three years.

Outlook

 

Strick might be the new force in Fantasy Golf.  1st in Top 10s with only 9 C/W/D since 2008, he is the perfect TC selection.  Stricker is no worse then 11th out of 100 in all RSA categories.  Start him on Sundays with confidence.  Don’t expect him to be cheap, but anything within 40 units is safe.  The only flaw in his game is Majors and WGC/P where he has yet to post Bonus.  If Steve can capture a major (or two?) in 2011 we might be talking about him as the #1 Rotoff Golfer heading into 2012.

Outlook

 

In winning the FedEx Cup last season, is Furyk getting the respect he so richly deserves?  While Tiger, Phil and a handful of others have the “flash” for TV ratings, Furyk quietly put together a magnificent season.  3rd in AF, 6th in Wins, 4th in Bonus and 1st in Top 10s over the last three years, expect him to remain at the top of the rankings for years to come.  And just like Tiger and Phil is rated A for TC selection.  You can’t go wrong with Furyk inside of 35 Units.

12 Days of Rotoff: Ernie Els

Outlook

 

There’s a lot to like here, 6th in R4 RSA and not at the inflated prices of other golfers in the Top 10.  3 Wins since 2008 also ranks 6th.  If you are on a budget and can afford the slow start (Ernie doesn’t typically start his season until February) then Ernie is your man.  And don’t overlook this, one of only two golfers with A+ in all three Money List segments.  That means more Money List for you in Rotoff leagues.  See if you can sneak him for 25 Units in middle nominations.
