<p align="left"><strong>Last week:</strong> </p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left">After touting <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Ian+Poulter/2848" title="Ian Poulter">Poulter</a> for his weekend playing ability, he goes and misses his second cut of the year.  <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Charley+Hoffman/696" title="Charley Hoffman">Hoffman</a> got hot on Friday and Saturday but couldn&#8217;t make a charge in the final round, finishing T23.  There was a <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Davis+Love+III/7" title="Davis Love III">DL3</a> sighting in round 2 (a 64) but I&#8217;m still trying to verify if he actually played.  Oh wait, there he is, T53.  My drought is starting to wear, I need a winner.</p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left">Speaking of winners, congrats to Rory Sabbatini who gets off the snide with his first win since 2007.  The win will not only move him up the <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/stats/bycategory?cat=WORLD_RANK&amp;season=2009" title="2009 World Golf Rankings">world rankings</a> but he should be amongst the top of the U.S. Open odds table.</p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left"><strong>This week:</strong> </p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left">Unfortunately <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Phil+Mickelson/29" title="Phil Mickelson">Phil</a> will not be defending this week at <a href="http://www.colonialfw.com/" title="Colonial Country Club">Colonial</a>.  <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJiHQ2S_N8U" title="All of my Love Led Zeppelin">All of my love</a> to Amy, Phil and the Mickelson family in this <a href="http://www.philmickelson.com/newsdetail.aspx?id=635" title="Amy Mickelson Breat Cancer">trying time</a>.</p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left">A decent field gathers this week on the last of three stops in Texas.  Four of the World Top 10 are playing this week including FedEx cup #2 <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Geoff+Ogilvy/1803" title="Geoff Ogilvy">Geoff Ogilvy</a>, playing his first tournament since the <a href="http://rotoff.shlinklincolnsports.com/2009-players-championship-preview/" title="Shlink Lincoln Sports 2009 Players Championship Preview">Players</a>.  Two of the last three years this tournament has seen a playoff so expect some golf drama come Sunday afternoon.</p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="center"><strong>1. </strong><font color="#0000ff"><strong>Geoff Ogilvy</strong></font></p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left">Ogilvy has not played well at Colonial historically but did finish T7 last year.  Quickly becoming an elite player, he should be an automatic Top 10 here and may even get his third win of the season.  In ten starts this season Ogilvy has yet to miss the cut and is shooting in the 60s in 43% of his rounds played.  Last year he opened with a 72 before finishing with three straight rounds in the 60s, including a 64 on Friday.  No suprise pick here, Ogilvy has been playing lights out all season long.</p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="center"><strong> 2. <font color="#0000ff"><strong>Ben Crane</strong></font></strong></p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left"><a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Ben+Crane/3028" title="Ben Crane">Crane</a> has been solid if not unspectacular in 2009.  A graduate of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaverton_High_School" title="Beaverton High School">Beaverton High</a> (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aloha_High_School" title="Aloha High School">my high school&#8217;s</a> main rival), he&#8217;s a local guy who I always root for.  Already with three Top 10s, one less then he had all of last season, Ben has also missed four cuts in thirteen starts.  Crane briefly held the lead on Sunday at the Players and finished 3rd at the Honda Classic in March.  He&#8217;s been knocking on the door and this week may just be his chance to break through on a course where he has two straight Top 10 finishes. </p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="center"><strong>3. </strong><font color="#0000ff"><strong>Tim Clark</strong></font></p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left">Of all the golfers yet to win on the PGA Tour, <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Tim+Clark/741" title="Tim Clark">Clark</a> has got to be one of the best.  With over $15 Million in career earnings and more then a handful of major Top 10 finishes, odds are Clark will get that elusive win sooner then later.  He was close here last year, finishing one shot off the win.  In five starts in Fort Worth, Tim has just one missed cut and has finished no worse then T21.  Like Crane, Clark has three Top 10s already this season including the Players Championship.  He is playing good golf so don&#8217;t be suprised to see him in contention this weekend.</p>

<p align="left"><strong>Last week:</strong> </p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left">Back in the win column baby!  Now was I the only one in <a href="http://www.waggleroom.com/2009/3/30/815335/tiger-s-win-highest-rated" title="2009 Arnold Palmer Invitational highest rated ">America</a> (or maybe the world)who thought <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Tiger+Woods/147" title="Tiger Woods">Tiger</a> was going to miss that putt on the 72nd hole?  I keep looking for signs that Tiger is human but after another amazing finish at Bayhill I suspect <a href="http://bleacherreport.com/articles/10147-tiger-woods-is-a-robot" title="Tiger Woods is a robot">Tiger may be a robot</a>.  We&#8217;ll know more about this latest development come Masters Sunday. </p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left">As for <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Vijay+Singh/10" title="Vijay Singh">VJ</a> and <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Bart+Bryant/3127" title="Bart Bryant">Bart</a>, both made the cut but were no where near the Top 10.  Seems every year Vijay has a stretch where he struggles and I wonder if maybe he&#8217;s on his way down the world rankings, only to see him bounce back into the win column.  But alas one wonders if Vijay hasn&#8217;t peaked&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.</p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left"><strong>This week:</strong></p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left"><a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Johnson+Wagner/5932" title="Johnson Wagner">Johnson Wagner</a> defends his lone PGA Tour victory at the last stop before <a href="http://www.augusta.com/" title="Augusta National ">Augusta</a>.<strong>  </strong>Johnson has two Top 10s here  in the last two years, but nothing about his play in <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Johnson+Wagner/5932/log?season=2008" title="Johnson Wagner 2008">2008</a> hinted at his win last season.  Coming into last year&#8217;s <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shell_Houston_Open" title="Shell Houston Open">Shell Houston Open</a>, Wagner had missed six of nine cuts and his best finish was T38.  It&#8217;s much the same this year as Wagner has only one Top 10 (in the short field at the <a href="http://rotoff.shlinklincolnsports.com/2009-mercedes-benz-championship-preview/" title="2009 Shlink Lincoln Sports Mercedes-Benz Championship Preview">Mercedes</a>) with five missed cuts.  But I guess that what makes golf and golf <font color="#000000">prognostication</font><font color="#cc3232"> </font> so great.  You just never know.</p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left">Being the last tune up before the year&#8217;s first major, there is a suprisingly great field this week.  <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Phil+Mickelson/29" title="Phil Mickelson">Phil</a>, <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Padraig+Harrington/404" title="Padraig Harrington">Paddy</a>, <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Ernie+Els/15" title="Ernie Els">Ernie</a>, <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Sergio+Garcia/1040" title="Sergio Garcia">Sergio</a> and <a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Geoff+Ogilvy/1803" title="Geoff Ogilvy">Geoff</a> will all be drawing their guns in Texas.  It should be an entertaining warm up for next week&#8217;s main event. </p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="center"><strong>1. </strong><font color="#0000ff"><strong>Geoff Ogilvy</strong></font></p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left"><font color="#000000">Ogilvy already has two wins on the season and has yet to miss a cut.  Don&#8217;t expect his first cut to come this week either.  In five starts here, Geoff has yet to miss the cut with three Top 1os.  He finished T2 last year, two shots behind Wagner.  Ogilvy should be hungry with The Masters looming and one (robotic) Tiger Woods back in the spotlight.  </font></p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="center"><strong> 2. <font color="#0000ff"><strong>Lucas Glover</strong></font></strong></p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left"><font color="#000000"><a href="http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/pga/players/Lucas+Glover/4809" title="Lucas Glover">Glover</a> is coming off an almost Top 10 (T11 at Bayhill) and has a little bit of good course history at the Shell.  Lucas has never finished outside the Top 30 with exception to his one missed cut in 2007.  His scores of 69 and 70 in <a href="http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/Hair+forges+five+ahead+brutal+Hill/1440204/story.html" title="Brutal Bayhill Weather">brutal weather conditions</a> last weekend are signs that his game is moving in the right direction.  And that direction should lead to his second Top 10 of the season.</font></p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="center"><strong>3. </strong><font color="#0000ff"><strong>Ernie Els</strong></font></p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left"><font color="#000000">Ernie, who hosted the <a href="http://nachofoto.com/gallery/Ernie_Els_Autism_Charity_Pro_AM-1" title="Ernie Els Autism Charity Pro-Am">Ernie Els Autism Charity Pro-Am</a> a few weeks back, is also puting together a nice season.  He has two Top 10s thus far and more importantly no missed cuts in six events in 2009.  Ernie has only played the Shell once in his career, finishing T17 in 2003.   This is kind of a reach on my part as there are certainly other top golfers in the field that could make some noise.  But I&#8217;m sticking to my hunch and expect to see Ernie in contention through the weekend.</font></p>

<p align="left">Zach has never finished better then 32nd at Waialae C.C. but did you see that 64 last week?  Zach is putting well which could mean big things this week for the 2007 Masters Champ.  Nothing more than a hunch, but two straight Top 10s to open the season is not out of the question.  Look for Zach to go low and be in contention on Sunday.</p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="center"><strong>2. <font color="#0000ff">Charles Howell III</font></strong></p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left">I&#8217;m going against the AimPoint Picks this week in selecting Howell III.  Charles has three Top 5 finishes here since 2002, including an almost win in 2007.  He seems to have a pattern over the last few years of a bad showing followed by a Top 5 finish.  Last year he finished T69.</p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="center"><strong>3. <font color="#0000ff">Geoff Ogilvy</font></strong></p>
<p><br/></p>
<p align="left">I know what you&#8217;re thinking, where was this pick last week?  Ogilvy is hot coming off the win last week but there&#8217;s other reasons to pick him this week.  Geoff finished T8 here in 2007 after missing four cuts from 2001-2005.  Two straight wins might be a stretch in such a deep field this week but a Top 10 is almost garaunteed.  Afterall is he is the top ranked golfer that&#8217;s playing this week.</p>
